Cole Clark True Balance
Magnetic Pickups (Patent Pending)
While creating our dual output True Hybrid ™ line, it was essential that we didn’t compromise on either electric or acoustic sound.
For an acoustic, phosphor bronze strings are essential to their amplified tone. Electric guitar pickups however, are magnetic and can only register the nickel core and not the phosphor bronze of an acoustic string. On any magnetic pickup, when using phosphor bronze strings, the E and B (plain nickel) strings are louder and the G to low E strings (phosphor bronze coiled over nickel) are quieter. This is due to lower tension and less nickel. When we began putting magnetic pickups in our acoustic guitars, we brought electronics wizard Paul Gale into the fold and set out to do something that had been attempted but never achieved. 4 years later we were producing magnetic pickups that were balanced for use in our true hybrid models and have also re-issued our Hollow Baby and Culprit lines of electric guitar, complete with our True Balance technology that ensures that all 6 strings have an even response. Using alnico 5 magnets, we can control the level of magnetism on each individual pole piece to deliver a perfectly balanced electric tone. For example, the G string is turned way up and the B string is substantially reduced. This is currently in patent pending stage, about to go to full patent and we are looking into a variety of ways that this technology can improve existing music products.
